NeuroAI x Vett & Vitenskap |
At our annual conference in Tromsø back in June 2023, Professor of physics at NMBU, Gaute Einevoll, hosted a panel debate on how neuroscience can inspire AI and the other way around. The panel consisted of two computational neuroscientists, NORA´s very own CEO, Klas Pettersen, and Anders Dale, an experimental neuroscientist, Hanne Stensola, and a statistician, Solve Sæbø.

The Twin Transition Century |
On the 21th of September, Professor and dScience leader, Morten Dæhlen, launched a report in collaboration with The Guild, showing how research on digital society contributes to a more effective green transition. A successful kick-off event for the Norwegian AI Cloud (NAIC) was held at the University of Oslo on the 25th of September. This three-year long project, supported by the Norwegian Research Council, will establish a new national infrastructure for AI in the hopes of fostering more AI related education, research and innovation. |

The Norwegian Artificial Intelligence Society (NAIS) Dissertation Awards 2024 |
Norwegian Artificial Intelligence Society (NAIS) invites nominations for dissertation awards 2024. Doctoral theses that are defended after December 1, 2022, and until December 31, 2023, in the general area of Artificial Intelligence are eligible for submission. The winner of the dissertation awards will be invited to give a talk in NAIS Symposium and will be submitted to the European Association for Artificial Intelligence (EurAI) Dissertation Awards 1 .

| Call for EurAI Fellows 2024 |
The EurAI Fellows program was initiated in 1999 to recognize individuals who have made significant, sustained contributions to the field of artificial intelligence (AI) in Europe. The EurAI Fellows Program honors only a tiny percentage of the total membership of all EurAI member societies. Each Fellow will receive a Certificate signed by the EurAI Chair. The names of the recently elected Fellows are published each year on the EurAI Webpages and in the EurAI Bulletin. Candidates must be current members of NAIS. Usually, only individuals who have contributed to AI for a decade or more after receiving their PhD (or are at an equivalent career stage) will be selected.

From Inception to Launch: The HANCE.ai Journey |
In 2019, three eager innovators met at the Believe in Music conference in Anaheim, Los Angeles. Peder and Erling, working for Soundly, had their initial encounter with Stian from Acon Digital at the conference where their conversation quickly revealed a mutual fascination with audio processing and machine learning, sparking the beginning of collaborative brainstorming sessions that eventually sparked the idea behind HANCE.ai.
HANCE.ai is a member of NORA’s innovation ecosystem, NORA.startup. Collaborating with academic institutions has played a significant role in shaping HANCE.ai, and they have master students as part of the team. More about that later, here comes the full story! |
NORA.startup is NORA’s innovation network. Through cooperation between academia, incubators and start-up companies NORA.startup is building a national innovation network for research-based innovation.
NORA.startup is one of several initiatives within NORA. It is a national networking arena for and by the research and startup community in Norway in the field of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and robotics, with a high degree of technical and academic competence and expertise.

Through membership in NORA Research School you will be able to create a unique network with peers at 16 of Norway´s leading universities and research institutions. You will also be the first to receive relevant information about and the opportunity to participate in courses, lectures and events.

The journal Nordic Machine Intelligence is open for publications »
Nordic Machine Intelligence (NMI) is a non-commercial, peer-reviewed, open-access journal. The journal publishes original research articles, literature reviews, conference articles related to NORA's Norwegian and Nordic conferences, articles related to the NMI Challenge, statements and other educational material within all aspects of artificial intelligence.
The journal is open for publications. It is also possible to sign up as a reviewer.
