In 2022 research in a number of research projects continued and research results were disseminated to the research community through publications in high impact scientific journals and international conference proceedings; to the NORCICS community through workshops; and to the broader research and business community, industry, and the public sector through lectures at seminars and other events.
NORCICS has been particularly active in its international cooperation activities in 2022. Research projects have been initiated in collaboration with international partners and several NORCICS-affiliated researchers have been abroad on research stays. Many applications have been submitted to calls for Research and Innovation proposals from the EU, and the centre has been active in participating in international clusters and working groups.
An introduction to NORCICS Work Package 2 - "Foundations"
Work Package 2 seeks to identify and address gaps in the state-of-the-art in securing cyber-physical systems and systems in critical sectors through the modeling of services and dependencies, enhanced understanding of advanced attacks, and both challenges as well as opportunities presented by dynamic cyber-physical environments from industrial systems and critical sectors relying not only on technological aspects but also ensuring that human aspects are given due consideration.
James is a postdoctoral researcher working within NORCICS Work Package 2: Foundations.
His work focuses on developing security primitives, by creating foundational notions of secure and safe protocol behavior for devices within industrial control and smart grid (ICS/SG) systems. These notions allow for easier development of secure-by-design protocols and can be used to focus the attention of SOCs by providing a formal model of compromised behavior.
Meet the NORCICS partners - Sykehuset Innlandet HF
Sykehuset Innlandet HF (Innlandet Hospital Trust) operates in a sector where innovations and digitization processes meet conventional operations, old-school practice communities, and many generations of organizational models.
Sykehuset Innlandet HF is a highly complex organization operating in a highly critical sector, and thus a target for a wide range of cyberattacks. Due to this, we participate in a series of work packages and tasks in NORCICS, to participate in the research, innovation, development and demonstration of methods and tools for detection, prevention and mitigation of cyberattacks.
